Sassa Payment Method Change: Over the past few years, anyone who has been a part of the South African market can attest to one thing: unemployment is a rampant issue. Even though there are countless reasons for this phenomenon to occur, one factor is at the forefront: the government. The country’s National Social Security Act (NSSSA) grants are meant to assist citizens in their daily lives, and yet these benefits often get ignored by millions of South Africans.
One of these benefits involves an unemployed person receiving their Sassa payment by way of state-issued tenders. But before you start stressing about how much you should be receiving each month, then there are a number of things that you need to know about this kind of government payment system.
Can I withdraw money from Sassa R350?
The Sassa was first introduced in May 2020. The payment is made through the post office payment method but later they proceed with payment also through added bank account and wallet or Cash Sent through partnered banks. In case you have still not registered your account with Sassa, do it as soon as possible to avoid delays in payment.
Important Information for SASSA SRD R350 Grant Applicants
Please be aware that the distribution of the R350 grant by the Post Office has ceased, and beneficiaries should refrain from visiting their branches. Instead, kindly utilize the assigned retail merchants for grant collection.
Payments through the Post Office
If you are receiving a payment from Sasasa and don’t have your beneficiary details, then the post office payment method will be automatically selected. If you wish to use another method, simply click on the ‘change payment method’ link in the Payment Details section of the submission form.
Post Office Virtual Cards
Virtual cards come as a good option for those who are not able to use a physical ATM card. It is a card that looks like an ATM card but has more advanced services than other physical cards. It allows you to withdraw money from an ATM machine, get cash back on your purchases, transfer money between accounts, and make purchases online. This article covers all the important information you need to know about this new kind of payment method.
You can send payments via e-wallet or cash
The Ewallet option is available only for those who are unable to make payments at the bank or don’t want to reveal their bank account details. The following banks have partnered with Sassa (South African Social Security Agency) and offer this service: Absa, Mango, and Nedbank (JSE-listed). There is an annual fee for using the option but you don’t have to pay it every time. Only if you have used the Ewallet option more than once will you be required to prepay a fee.
Sim cards that are not registered cannot be used.
Payments from a personal bank account
When you use this, you simply select your bank for payment collection and the money from Sassa just comes straight to your own bank. This is the most convenient option and a faster one, Sassa officials also recommend this. As Sassa said: “We have now signed an agreement with the National Treasury to speed up the collection of government payments by eliminating unnecessary procedures. This means that individuals and businesses can now directly deposit into their bank accounts any payment made to them by South Africa’s Revenue Service (Sassa)”
Beneficiaries can use their own bank accounts to withdraw payments. Some of the banks that are most popular and used by beneficiaries are mentioned below: TymeBank, Capitec, Standard Bank, Fnb Bank, ABSA Bank, etc. The beneficiaries can withdraw their monthly benefits via various electronic payment methods like Transact Plus and Liberty Pay.
